Associate Attorney – Nashville, TN
Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, a leading national public interest law firm, is seeking an experienced Associate for our Nashville office. In this role, you will focus on class actions involving fraud, securities, ERISA, data breach, and more. You will also have the opportunity to work on a wide range of cases in our other practice groups, including discrimination, retaliation, sexual assault, and whistleblower matters.
Our Class Action Practice: We have represented thousands of individuals in significant class actions across the country with landmark victories including our record-breaking $253 million verdict for a class of gender discrimination plaintiffs. We give plaintiffs a voice, we pursue justice wherever it takes us, and we change the law through our litigation.
Prerequisites: You should have 3–5 years of commercial litigation or class action experience. You should be an impeccable writer and have solid experience in discovery. You should have a passion for justice, an appetite for learning new things and meeting new people, and a strong sense of camaraderie. You should be ready to take ownership of your cases, interface with courts, clients, and counsel, and play an active and leading role in our class action practice group. You should be prepared to mentor and lead our junior attorneys. You should be a member of the Tennessee bar or expect to be admitted in the immediate future.
Your Work: We do not divvy out assignments—rather, you will be intimately involved in every aspect of your cases together with a tight-knit case team. As a result, you will obtain excellent experience and hands-on training. Together with your teams, you will be expected to handle all aspects of the case. You will develop claims and draft pleadings; work with clients; research facts and law; draft documents of all kinds; take and defend depositions; argue motions; run mediations; lead and guide our junior attorneys and legal assistants; interface and negotiate with opposing counsel; and participate in hearings, conferences, trial, and appeals. Our cases and our work are complex and dynamic.
Salary: We offer a competitive lock-step salary, bonuses, and benefits with the potential for a signing bonus based on experience, including clerkship experience.
