Yegina Whang is a Senior Legal Assistant in Sanford Heisler Sharp’s San Francisco office. Yegina graduated with honors from Stanford University in June 2017, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations with specializations in International Security and East/South Asia. Her senior thesis received a departmental award and examined why non-nuclear weapon states decide to violate the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), using large data analysis of all NPT signatories and in-depth case studies of South Korea’s treaty violations.
During her time at Stanford, Yegina was a research assistant for the Bill Lane Center for the American West, using qualitative data analysis software to code interview transcripts with parole commissioners in order to assess which factors mattered most in their decision-making during parole hearings. She also worked as a peer advisor for the Program in International Relations, served on the executive board of her sorority, and studied abroad in Paris. In 2016, she worked as a legislative intern for Congressman Xavier Becerra in Washington DC.
Yegina hopes to attend law school in the future.
