Ruby Emberling is a Senior Legal Assistant in Sanford Heisler Sharp’s Washington, DC office. Ruby graduated from Harvard magna cum laude in Social Studies with a focus in American education policy. She wrote a senior thesis on special education for children with emotional and behavioral disorders. The project involved both qualitative ethnographic research and sociological theory. She is interested in dynamics of class, race, and gender in the law.
Outside of her studies, Ruby spent four years on the varsity lightweight crew team, serving as captain for two of those years. She was also a peer advisor, working with freshmen to transition them into college life. While at Harvard, Ruby spent summers in Berlin and New York City, where she participated in a summer program for documentary film production and interned at a legal aid service respectively. Ruby is originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan and hopes to attend law school.
