Kremena Mestanova is a Legal Assistant in Sanford Heisler Sharp’s New York Office. Kremena graduated with departmental honors from Vassar College in 2018, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. Within her major, she studied philosophy, political science, and economics, as well as German and Russian language and literature. She wrote her senior honors thesis on the role of African-American community leaders in the rise of mass incarceration.
While at Vassar, Kremena developed a strong passion for civil rights and social justice issues, and she explored those as an intern at the Dutchess County Family Court, the New York State Office of the Attorney General, and the Special Victims Bureau of the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office. Kremena also spent the spring semester of her junior year at the University of Melbourne in Australia, where she took law and criminology classes. Kremena is considering law school in the future.
