Justin DesRochers is a Legal Assistant in the San Diego office of Sanford Heisler Sharp, LLP, a national law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee, and Maryland. He received his B.A. with Highest Distinction in General Scholarship (summa cum laude) and Departmental Honors from the University of California, Berkeley. Justin is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Before his entry into the legal field, Justin was an educator and international development worker serving in the Peace Corps in the Republic of Malawi, a small country in sub-Saharan Africa. As a high school teacher at a rural, resource-challenged school, Justin promoted student literacy, gender equity, youth empowerment, and public health.
At Berkeley, Justin interned for a variety of organizations in the human rights and international fields, including the U.S. Department of State. He also interned in Mumbai, India, where he promoted women’s empowerment in the poorest parts of the city. Justin was named a Leadership Award Scholar and awarded the Quantedge Award for Academic Excellence for maintaining a perfect academic record. One of his term papers won the Owen D. Young Prize (2nd Prize) in an essay competition for the best undergraduate paper in international relations, and his honors thesis on the Armenian Genocide (1915-17) won the Institute of International Studies Undergraduate Merit Scholarship. Justin has presented his research at half a dozen conferences.
Justin intends to go to law school in the future.
