While at Yale, Javier participated in a philosophical debating society, a Chicano-based social justice group, the university’s club wrestling team, local immigration aid groups, and a few jazz musical groups. During his summers, Javier worked as a legal assistant and Spanish interpreter for International Services at the Y in Houston and the New Orleans Public Defenders office. He also worked as a political risk and strategic affairs intern at a political consulting group in Buenos Aires, Argentina; and he worked with a Houston-based psychotherapist who specialized in psychological evaluations for people seeking immigration status in the US.
Javier is considering attending law school in the future.
