David Katahira is the Senior Legal/Administrative Assistant in Sanford Heisler Sharp’s Washington, DC office. David graduated from the University of Virginia in 2017 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Government concentrating in American Politics and Music with distinction for his Distinguished Major Recital for the violin. For his senior recital, David performed pieces by Leclair, Copland, Beethoven, and Saint-Saëns in the university’s main auditorium.
David’s undergraduate studies reflected his interests in constitutional law, separation of powers, democracy, and violin performance. While studying at UVA, David was an outreach and advocacy member of the Minority Rights Coalition, which aims to promote diversity and inclusion on campus and in the greater Charlottesville community.
In past summers, David interned for the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Disability Rights Section and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Washington Field Office, both of which solidified his passion for protecting people’s civil rights.
David plans on attending law school in the near future.
