As It Appeared On

Law360 (November 25, 2018, 10:03 PM EST) — The elite slate of attorneys chosen as Law360’s 2018 MVPs have distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters and record-breaking deals.

Competition for the MVP distinction was fierce this year, with editors reviewing nearly 1,000 submissions to determine the winners. Beginning this week, Law360 will profile the 2018 class of MVPs, which includes 162 attorneys from 71 firms spanning 35 practice areas.

After three straight years on top, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP was overtaken by Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP, which scooped up the most MVPs in 2018. Eight of Gibson Dunn’s attorneys were named MVPs in the Appellate, Class Action, Cybersecurity and Privacy, Energy, Real Estate, Securities, Sports and Transportation categories.

Sullivan & Cromwell was close behind, however, securing the second most MVP wins with seven. Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP had six MVPs each; Hogan Lovells, Jenner & Block LLP, Latham & Watkins LLP and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP had five each; and Covington & Burling LLP, Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP, Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, Mayer Brown LLP and O’Melveny & Myers LLP had four.

Congratulations to this year’s class of Law360 MVPs. They are:
