Mary Duggan

Legal Intake And Operations Specialist

Mary Duggan is a Legal Intake and Operations Specialist in the Nashville office of Sanford Heisler Sharp, a national law firm with offices in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee, and Maryland. She received her B.A. from Colorado College, where she majored in the Sociology of Race, Ethnicity, and Migration Studies.

Mary is committed to fighting against systemic violence, as well as providing resources and care for survivors. In addition to receiving a degree in Race, Ethnicity, and Migration Studies, she continues to study the intersections of race, gender, religion, disability, sexuality, nationality, and class to better understand how to combat the inequity that individuals face in the United States. She received the Adrienne Seward and Victor Nelson-Cisneros Award in Race and Ethnic Studies, the Involved Student of the Year Award, and the Exceptional Engagement Award during her time at Colorado College.

Mary remained committed to fighting against injustice throughout her college career. She was the co-chair of the Student Organization for Sexual Safety, which used education and prevention tactics to lessen the rates of sexual violence on her campus. She served on the Colorado College Nondiscrimination and Anti-Harassment council, which served to make recommendations to the college on better practices in their response to violence at the college by analyzing data and reviewing other collegiate practices. She co-wrote a 100-page list of demands to the college, which focused on improving the systems of accountability that students can access in response to sexual violence. Mary also served on the Campus Safety Oversight Committee, making recommendations about limiting the violence performed by the campus policing system by analyzing data and student surveys. She has completed a series of trauma-informed training courses, and she is excited that she can bring this approach to her work at Sanford Heisler Sharp.

Mary has previously worked as a Community Organizer for Planned Parenthood in Colorado and as a Research Analyst for the Center for Applied Nonviolent Action and Strategies in Belgrade, Serbia. She plans on attending graduate school in the future.
